For Next International Grand Epistoleus

Elaina J. Hamilton | The Why

Since the age of digital storytelling and social media, the Epistoleus role has evolved. However, this role is about more than just being able to design a flyer. This position is about preserving the legacy of our great sisterhood. It’s about telling our story.

Prior to 2010, I had little interest in history. This all changed when I began working at International Corporate Headquarters (ICHQ). Under the direction of Grand Basileus Joann G. Loveless, I was challenged by her vision to redesign ICHQ. This redesign had to be bold, inspiring, and on a budget.

One blank wall at ICHQ turned into a project I remain proud of to this day. I had the privilege to embark on an extensive research project to showcase our history. Utilizing Aurora magazines, history books, chapter files, and oral histories, I transformed the Sigma story into a nine-panel timeline. While this timeline remains on the walls of ICHQ to this day, it has traveled far and wide to Boules and the Centennial celebration.

By the end of the project I grew to love history. I am inspired by the sorors and chapters who make an impact around the world. As Sigma grows, so too does our legacy and the need to share and preserve our story far and wide.

The Timeline Design.
